About our products

Prawns

  • We carry a great variety of prawns  from around the world  such as Ecuador, Thailand, Vietnam, China and India species. Prawns are available either in Block Frozen (Frozen in a block of ice) or Individually Quick Frozen (IQF). Sizes range from 6-8 to 100-200 ( means 6 to 8 prawns per pound and 100 to 200 shrimps per pound).

Scallops

  • We have the best selection of scallops, with Sea caught Canadian scallops being the most popular among our customers. Again, they are available in Block Frozen or Individually Quick Frozen from size 10-20 to 30-40. Scallops from other origins such as Japan (Hokkaido), Peru and China are also available.

Lobster Tails

  • Our  lobster tails warm or cold water tails are one of the best deals in town. They are usually packed in 10LB boxes. The sizes are from 3oz to 14oz per tail. Certain sizes  also come   vacuum packed  in smaller packing for your convenience.

  • Frozen Fish plus...We always carry a good inventory of different types of local frozen whole and skinned fish as well as imported fish from around the world.Some of our fish products are:Tuna, sockeye salmon, black cod, basa fillet, catfish, smelt, tilapia, cuttlefish, eel, belt fish, pollock fillet, silver fish, golden pompano and yellow croaker etc.

Condiments

  • Wah Loong ltd sells different kind of sauces, spices, oil, vinegar, and cooking wine and is one of the Western Canada dealers of Lee Kum Kee.

Canned Food

  • Wah Loong Ltd. has been in the business of  importing  canned fruits, canned vegetables and other canned food products  since 1969. Canned fruits and vegetables such as canned bamboo shoot, pineapple, baby corn, Waterchestnut, mushroom,and coconut milk.

Other food items

  • We also sell Thailand fragrant rice, baking powder, dried noodles, and other dried food such as dried seafood, dried bean curd, nut/bean, dried mushroom / fungus etc.

Why we should eat prawns

Prawns are low calories food. 100g of prawns provide about 99 calories. However, in 100g of chicken, pork and beef, they are 239, 242 and 250 calories respectively. Prawns are primarily made of protein, 100g of shrimp has 24g of protein. Protein is a macronutrient which we need a large amount in our body. And protein is essential building block of bones, cartilage and muscles. 


To many people who wants to build lean muscle or to loss weight, eating prawns regularly is a good option because prawns are rich in protein but they are low in calories.



NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF FISH

Lower your LDL cholesterol - Fish

Low density lipoprotein(LDL) is the bad cholesterol that builds up in your blood vessels and can lead to heart disease. Red meat is a major source of cholesterol and having fish as a replacement of meat 3 times a week could lower your (LDL) low density lipoprotein cholesterol, and thus it reduces the chance of getting a heart attack.


Fish provides omega-3 fatty acid which helps us to maintain a good eye sight, a healthy heart and brain. Our body can only produce omega-3 by digesting omega-3 food. Some good choices are salmon, tuna, smelt and sardines.
